Three Sisters Katoomba NSW Australia

After a half of a century of living in Sydney I have never been to parts of the Blue Mountains that I took family visitors from Germany today. I have found many excellent spots that I will return to very soon and cant wait to point the lens at them.

Inspired by a fellow photographer #iPhoneography

Its been a while since I've posted an iPhone photo, I've neglected my project. I popped into a friends coffee shop this morning and he finished his 365 and published his first book, congratulations Alex.

Up at 3:15am, 30 minute drive, 30 minute walk down a steep track, numerous Deer encounters, we arrive at a hidden little gem on the coast for sunrise. 2 hours later its a very steep 45 minute walk back up that track we so easily declined just hours before. It was all worth it.

Finally a nice sunny warm day in Sydney after many days of wet weather. I spent the afternoon with fellow photographer Justin doing a little Bear Grills inside the Royal National Park, after a few hours on the road and many kilometers of walking we came across this little jewel inside the park, thanks for the use of the 77mm ND8 filter Justin.

Nippers at Cronulla Beach (why cant I take photos of a beach?) #iPhoneography #iPhoneographer

Day 342 of 365: My iPhone #iphoneography photo a day project

I was up on the headland this morning between 9 and 10, doing what I love doing, taking photo's. Today I was actually also using my digital camera creating a time lapse of life on the beach. I was first approached by a nice young lifeguard trying to tell me that I was not allowed to take photo's. When I asked him why he just said youre not allowed to. Well, talk about getting me started. I yold him to get on his radio and find out why, he had no answer, neither did his supervisor, I told him I was taking photo's of the beach and the movement of the Nippers kids and the water, keep in mind I was over 300 meter's away from anyone in my view finder, and I had a fixed 35mm lens with a ND8 filter and a polariser, so things were pretty dark, and I was shooting at 1/8th of a second. He left.

Tweny minutes later a woman from the club turns up and tells me I cant take photos of the beach, I told her otherwise, then she proceeds to tell me shes an off duty copper. Didnt have her badge, wanted my ID, told her I dont have it on me, blah blah she went on. I didnt want to push my luck with her, I tried explaining to her what I was doing and that I had a wide angle lens on and you couldnt see any people or kids close up, she tried telling me there was software that people use to close in on people, Im alos shooting small JPG, not RAW, geeze I would love to get my hands on that software.

I didnt want any confrontation with her, I asked her waht station she worked at, she wouldnt tell me, just said a local station. I personally dont think she was a copper and yes, I should have called the police right there and then and have them settle the reason why I cant take photo's.

Great day.

Farewell son, enjoy your 8 months in Canada & America

We said goodbye to our son this morning, he is off to spread his wings in the USA and Canada. He has been planning this working holiday for the past 9 months. Will he stay for the whole 8 months, who knows.

Why is it that we never realise what someone means to us till such time that they are not here for us to see everyday? Does this mean we are weak? Does this mean we are soft?

I have never been able to comprehend how anyone can pack their bags and immigrate to another country when they have family and friends. I guess this could explain why those people appear to be slightly harder and more determined to those of us that have never made that big leap.

I hope our son finds whatever it is he is looking for while he is away, we hope he stays away from trouble, we hope he finds work in the Ski fields of northern America, we hope he comes home healthy and wise.

A lot can change in 8 months, I wish I could look into the future and see what it brings.
